Ancient Olympia

Located in western Peloponnese, in the so-called "valley of the gods", Ancient Olympia grew to be the most celebrated sacred site of Ancient Greece, and the birthplace of the Olympic Games, the most important sports events in all antiquity: starting from 776 B.C., all Greeks - across the then known world - would be united every four years and all hostilities would be suspended so that everyone could take part in these games in the true spirit of sportsmanship. Olympia is now, as it used to be in the past, a famed destination, a powerful landmark known the world over.

nemea

Nemea Wine Region

Nemea is one of the popular destinations in the Peloponnese, a significant winemaking region that is of great archaeological interest, too. Next to Korinthos and Loutraki, Nemea is surrounded by fertile plains that have contributed to the area's well-being with their yields for many a century. This is where you will find the largest single vineyard in Greece producing wines that are renowned the world over, producing the famous worldwide Agiorgitiko wine.

The picturesque seaside town of Koroni with its majestic castle lies about 25 km by road from the Sunrise Village Hotel. Koroni is amphitheatrically built on a low-lying hill. It will enchant you with the beautiful stately homes painted in light colours with characteristic blue or yellow windows, yards filled with colourful flowers, picturesque stone-paved little streets, narrow back streets and a large number of churches. During the Venetian occupation, Koroni developed and created its own handicraft centre. Later, the town took on the important role of a political and military centre of the Eastern Mediterranean.

voidokylia

Voidokilia Beach

Nowhere captures the majesty of nature quite like the iconic horseshoe-shaped beach known as Voidokilia beach. Shaped in a perfect semi-circle, its golden sand and interplay of turquoise and blue sea have rightly propelled it towards the top of Instagram bucket lists. Less well known is that fact that it is considered one of the most important wetlands in Europe. And so, approaching it on foot Voidokilia, captures your heart twice over - first as a saltwater lagoon included in the Natura 2000 network for protected biotopes, and then as an exotic paradise in which to sunbathe and swim.
